For years I wrote under the impression that most people only wanted to read about a thousand words in an article, so I kept most of my articles about a thousand words long. That is 500 words per page, so two pages in length.

As I have written more, I have surprisingly found that I have more to say. Therefore my articles have grown in length, many exceeding 2,000 words or more. In a good week I have, at times written three or even four articles on various subjects, but that is exhausting work. With the advent of the Come, Follow Me program, and my decision to write for individuals and families, rather than as I have done in the past, writing for the teachers, the individual articles have exponentially increased in length.

What used to be 1,500-2,000 word articles has grown to a single Come, Follow Me article averaging between 4,000-5,000 words in length each week. My longest to date is more than 6,000 words (12 pages). I used to write a couple of articles (on average) each week, with a total of about 3,000 words. Now just the Come, Follow Me lessons are driving me to write more than I did over the length of multiple articles.

Occasionally I will still be writing things I feel driven to write in addition to the Come, Follow Me articles. But many weeks the Sunday School lessons will consume most of my time. I’m trying to collect from previously written articles, and produce new writing to publish a book on the Plan of Salvation as well. So that is what I am doing these day. And this is why what you see on my Home page is mostly Sunday School lessons, instead of the steady stream of random topics I have traditionally written.

If there is one thing you can always count on with me, it is something random. I am contemplating starting to put the old Priesthood/Relief Society lessons from the Teachings of the Prophets on my site for free. In the past I charged for them, mainly because I wrote as much or more than what was included in the actual manual each year. We’ll see what happens. I may even put more of my explanations of the Latter-day Hymns on the site. I think I have written about 30 I haven’t yet published. Again, we’ll see.
