The Kingdom of God Moves Forward
“It is the business of those who profess to be engaged in [God’s] work to move on, to go forward. … So long as there remains a step forward to be taken, that step should be taken.”
This is the 2013 Melchizedek Priesthood and Relief Society Manual Lesson 20 with commentary. I have provided this as a service to those who might like to have some explanations and extra ideas while reading the lesson or while preparing to teach the lesson.
Deborah,
I don’t have any gimmicks for you, but I do have a perspective for you to think about. One of the main lessons President Snow teaches over and over again in these lessons is that we are promised success and victory. What the Lord declares will be always comes to pass. If it did not then he would cease to be God. When he gives us directions and tells us to do such and such, then we have every right to move forward into the execution of his instructions knowing that we will be blessed by Him in what we do. We are fulfilling his word, and his word is always vindicated or proven correct. We can have all the confidence in the world that what we attempt will prove beneficial to the children of men, because the Lord turns every righteous effort on our part into a blessing on our heads. We have absolutely nothing to fear, for what God has commanded will become possible to perform. That is the lesson in 1 Nephi 3:7.
Try approaching this lesson with a sense of fearlessness, an assumption that we will be victorious in all our endeavors to move the purpose of the kingdom along. Know that we have the backing of heaven and nothing can stop the progress of this work. Those who help in it will be blessed and rewarded richly by the Lord.
Best of luck on the lesson.
